In value terms, approvals fell by N$90.5\nmillion to N$237.2 million in November from N$327.7 million worth of approvals\nin October. A total of 61 building plans worth N$40.4 million were completed\nduring the month, a decline of 76.3% y\/y in number and 82.8% y\/y in value of\ncompletions. Year-to-date, N$1.78 billion worth of building plans have been\napproved, 2.7% lower than the corresponding period in 2019. On a twelve-month\ncumulative basis, 2,258 building plans have been approved worth approximately\nN$1.94 billion, 2.8% higher in value terms than approvals at the end of\nNovember 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1116\" height=\"528\" src=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/ijg.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2-146.png?fit=740%2C350&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26542\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ijg.net\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/2-146.png 1116w, https:\/\/ijg.net\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/2-146-300x142.png 300w, https:\/\/ijg.net\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/2-146-768x363.png 768w, https:\/\/ijg.net\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/2-146-1024x484.png 1024w, https:\/\/ijg.net\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/2-146-250x118.png 250w, https:\/\/ijg.net\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/2-146-150x71.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1116px) 100vw, 1116px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">The largest portion of building plan\napprovals in November was made up of additions to properties. 165 additions to\nproperties were approved with a value of N$95.1 million, 11.3% lower in number,\nbut 42.4% more in value terms than in October. Year-to-date 1,517 additions to\nproperties have been approved with a total value of N$673.5 million, a 3.1% y\/y\ndecline in number and 9.3% y\/y decrease in value. 10 additions worth N$5.5\nmillion were completed during the month. Year-to-date 866 additions have been\ncompleted with a combined value of N$444.8 million, down 31.2% y\/y in number\nand 34.8% y\/y in value terms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1107\" height=\"527\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ijg.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/3-147.png?fit=740%2C352&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26543\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ijg.net\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/3-147.png 1107w, https:\/\/ijg.net\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/3-147-300x143.png 300w, https:\/\/ijg.net\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/3-147-768x366.png 768w, https:\/\/ijg.net\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/3-147-1024x487.png 1024w, https:\/\/ijg.net\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/3-147-250x119.png 250w, https:\/\/ijg.net\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/3-147-150x71.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1107px) 100vw, 1107px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">New residential\nunits accounted for 104 of the total 271 approvals registered in November, an 9.6%\nm\/m decrease compared to the 115 residential units approved in October. In\nvalue terms, N$132.0 million worth of residential units were approved during\nthe month, 45.6% less than the N$242.9 million worth of residential approvals\nin October. Year-to-date 610 residential units have been approved worth N$798.2\nmillion, 278 units more than in the corresponding period in 2019 and up N$280.4\nmillion in value terms. 51 Residential units valued at N$34.9 million were\ncompleted in November, bringing the year-to-date number to 690, up 147.3% y\/y.\nIn monetary terms, this is an increase of 170.4% y\/y.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1107\" height=\"537\" src=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/ijg.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/5-124.png?fit=740%2C359&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26544\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ijg.net\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/5-124.png 1107w, https:\/\/ijg.net\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/5-124-300x146.png 300w, https:\/\/ijg.net\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/5-124-768x373.png 768w, https:\/\/ijg.net\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/5-124-1024x497.png 1024w, https:\/\/ijg.net\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/5-124-250x121.png 250w, https:\/\/ijg.net\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/5-124-150x73.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1107px) 100vw, 1107px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">Only 2 new commercial units, valued at\nN$10.0 million, were approved in November, bringing the year-to-date number of\napprovals to 40, worth a total of N$305.0 million. On a rolling 12-month\nperspective, the number of commercial and industrial approvals have slowed to 43\nunits worth N$315.6 million as at November, compared to the 47 approved units\nworth N$566.1 million over the corresponding period a year ago. No commercial\nand industrial units were completed in November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1138\" height=\"555\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/ijg.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/6-66.png?fit=740%2C361&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26545\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ijg.net\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/6-66.png 1138w, https:\/\/ijg.net\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/6-66-300x146.png 300w, https:\/\/ijg.net\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/6-66-768x375.png 768w, https:\/\/ijg.net\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/6-66-1024x499.png 1024w, https:\/\/ijg.net\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/6-66-250x122.png 250w, https:\/\/ijg.net\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/6-66-150x73.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1138px) 100vw, 1138px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">On a rolling\n12-month basis, the number of building plan approvals have been ticking up\nsteadily since June, although the growth has been from a relatively low base.\nIn monetary terms, these approvals are up only 2.8% y\/y. Additions to\nproperties have made up 70.0% of the year-to-date total number of approvals,\nbut only 37.9% of the total value of approvals, indicating that the planned\nconstruction activity will mostly consist of smaller building projects.
